Planning your wedding should feel exciting — not overwhelming. One of the most commonly overlooked stress points is the getting-ready portion of the day, especially when coordinating hair and makeup for multiple people, managing timing, and making sure everything runs smoothly.
At Haven Makeup Studios, we specialize in creating a calm, organized, and seamless experience for brides across Salt Lake City, Park City, and throughout Utah. From your first inquiry to the final touch-up, every detail is thoughtfully planned so your morning feels effortless and on time.
Step 1: Know Your Timeline Before You Book
Before reaching out, it’s important to know your ready-by time.
A general estimate is:
Hair: ~45 minutes per person
Makeup: ~30 minutes per person
However, timing is not one-size-fits-all.
We know the speed and workflow of our artists and will determine how many artists are needed based on your party size, timeline, and the type of looks requested. More detailed or full-glam styles may require additional time, and timing can vary depending on the artist.
We will walk through your timeline with you and build a custom schedule for your wedding day, so there’s no need to stress about the logistics.
Step 2: Book Your Artist Early
Wedding dates in Utah — especially in Salt Lake City, Park City, Deer Valley, and mountain venues — book quickly.
We recommend booking your hair and makeup artist as early as possible. Waiting until the last minute can limit your options and availability, especially during peak wedding season.
Step 3: Plan for On-Location Services
On-location hair and makeup is one of the biggest factors in having a stress-free wedding morning.
It:
eliminates unnecessary travel
prevents hair from falling or frizzing during transit
allows you to relax in your getting-ready space
This is especially important for Utah venues where travel time and weather can be unpredictable.
Step 4: Understand Pricing & What’s Included
Bridal beauty pricing typically depends on:
number of services
number of people
location and travel
At Haven Makeup Studios:
Hair: $175
Makeup: $175
Hair & Makeup: $325
Travel starts at $150 and varies depending on distance, timing, and location logistics.
Once services are booked, that time is reserved exclusively for you. Because of this, services cannot be reduced after booking, though additional services may be added if time allows.
Step 5: Choose Your Artist Based on Their Work
Your artist’s portfolio should already reflect the quality and style you’re looking for.
You wouldn’t typically book a trial shoot with your photographer before securing your date — the same applies to hair and makeup. If you love an artist’s work, it’s best to secure your date first to ensure availability.
A consultation call is the best way to confirm details, discuss your vision, and make sure everything aligns before booking.
Waiting to book until after a trial can result in losing your date or your preferred artist.
Step 6: Schedule a Trial to Refine Your Look
A bridal trial is designed to fine-tune your look — not to decide whether to book your artist.
Trials allow you to:
make small adjustments
see how everything photographs
feel confident going into your wedding day
Most brides schedule their trial closer to their wedding or alongside bridals or engagement photos.
Step 7: Use Inspiration Photos the Right Way
Looking for inspiration photos is a great place to start, but it’s important to understand why you’re drawn to a specific image.
When choosing inspiration, ask yourself:
Do I like the tones or color palette?
Is it the skin finish or level of glam?
Do I like the way the hair is curled, pinned, or styled?
Or do I simply think the overall image is beautiful?
We’re all guilty of saving photos we love without knowing exactly why — but taking the time to break it down helps you communicate clearly with your artist.
This allows your artist to recreate the elements you love, rather than trying to copy an image that may not translate the same based on your features, hair type, or skin tone.
Step 8: Make Sure Your Bridal Party Is Ready and On Time
A smooth, stress-free wedding morning depends on everyone being present and ready at their scheduled time.
Your timeline is carefully planned based on the number of services and the time required for each person. In order to stay on schedule, each individual must be ready to begin their service when it’s their turn.
If members of your party are not present or ready, the timeline can quickly fall behind. If no one is in the artist’s chair, we are unable to continue working, which can impact the overall schedule.
Setting expectations with your bridal party in advance helps ensure everything runs smoothly and that everyone is finished on time without feeling rushed.
A Stress-Free Wedding Morning Starts With the Right Team
Your wedding morning sets the tone for your entire day. When your hair and makeup is professionally planned, timed correctly, and tailored to your needs, everything else feels easier.
Working with an experienced team means your timeline is handled, your look is refined in advance, and your morning feels calm instead of rushed.
Book Your Date
Your wedding morning should feel calm, organized, and effortless — not rushed or uncertain.
With the right team, your timeline is handled, your look is refined in advance, and every detail is accounted for so you can fully enjoy the experience.
If you’re getting married in Salt Lake City, Park City, or anywhere in Utah, we recommend reaching out early to secure your date, as availability becomes limited during peak wedding season.
To inquire, simply reach out with your wedding date, location, and how many people will be needing services. From there, we’ll guide you through the next steps and create a plan tailored specifically to your day.
